Bioeconomy at Naval Sites Association

The Bioeconomy at Marine Sites (BaMS) association brings together research, politics, society and business in the field of the aquatic circular economy. The blue bioeconomy involves creating value through water use, whilst ensuring sector coupling is as waste-free as possible. Whether it be water remediation using algae, the production of biochar from waste materials, fertiliser substitutes derived from aquaculture by-products, the utilisation of waste heat from biogas plants, or other ways of linking agriculture and modern industry with water-related applications: The BaMS association brings together stakeholders, connects experts and strengthens the conditions for a transformative circular economy.

The ‘tank or plate’ debate fails to take sufficient account of the potential of our seas and water bodies. A circular approach to water use goes hand in hand with sustainability and climate protection. The association acts as a bridge for research-based innovations with practical application potential during the critical ‘Valley of Death’. In future, the BaMS association intends to focus increasingly on AI-supported methods for translational research.
