Carbon Management
The path to a sustainable future requires innovative solutions and close cooperation between industry, research and other experts. In this event, we would like to focus on the topic of carbon management. What solutions already exist for CO2 emitters? How can CO2 be used as a raw material? What infrastructure is needed for this? Following the presentation of three exciting best practices, we would like to work with you to identify key challenges and obstacles in the field of carbon management based on key questions - and thus create the basis for possible further collaboration in a working group.
Inhalte & Highlights:
David Strittmatter is co-founder and CEO of ICODOS, a company developing innovative e-methanol technology for the defossilisation of shipping and industry. Using a patented process, ICODOS reduces the energy requirements of methanol production by 30% and enables cost-efficient production. Under his leadership, the company is driving forward scaling and commercialisation, supported by EU funding programmes and pilot plants. In his presentation, he will show how this technology can help transform the industry.
Janine Heck is a project manager specialising in CO2 strategy. She works at CENA Hessen, the competence centre for climate and noise protection in aviation at Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH. Together with partners from research, business and politics, CENA Hessen develops innovative projects for sustainable aviation. CENA Hessen is responsible for project coordination and conducts its own research in funded projects. In her presentation, she will introduce the Carbon4PtL project, which is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas and deals with the question of how CO2 can be provided for the production of e-fuels. The entire value chain from the CO2 source to logistics and synthesis through to utilisation is considered.
Markus Müller is a project manager at Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie e.V. (CLIB). He focuses on the biotechnological production of sustainable speciality chemicals (e.g. for the consumer goods industry) and in this role is involved in the ReCO2NWert project, among others. Dr Müller will present this project in his lecture and show how cosmetic products can be produced from CO2-containing waste gases from the Weisweiler waste incineration plant.

Offer: Working group
Following the event, we are offering interested stakeholders the opportunity to get involved in an interdisciplinary working group. This working group will explore further questions and challenges in a protected environment and develop concrete solutions.
The exact thematic focus will be developed together with the participants of the event.
The aim is to formulate practical recommendations and initiate potential collaborations for future projects in a structured and results-orientated format.
