The Degradability of Biopolymers: A Dialogue [Create Network]

The two specialist forums, “Closing the Circular Economy Loop through Biomass” and “Market Access and Best Practice”, are hosting a joint forum meeting to examine the biodegradability of bioplastics from a holistic, science-based and practical perspective.

This expert forum meeting examines the topic of biodegradability from two key perspectives: firstly, the conditions under which the biodegradability of plastics is beneficial from a scientific point of view, and secondly, how this property can be utilised in the marketing of products and packaging. The discussions at the expert forum will, among other things, provide answers to the following questions:

• Where does biodegradability actually make sense?

• How do science and materials research view this issue?

• Which laws and standards currently apply?

• What certifications and labels are currently available on the market?

• How can biodegradability be communicated clearly to customers?

As well as inspiring talks, there will be opportunities for discussion and networking, as well as a tour of Weimako GmbH’s new site in Peissenberg, where you can see the production of bio-based packaging up close.
