TransBIB – Boost. Industrial. Bioeconomy.

Standardisation of bio-based value networks

How can systems for demonstrating sustainability work better together?

The acquisition of certificates is an important and established instrument for making one's own sustainability efforts visible to processors and end customers. An overwhelming variety of systems with different certification objects and a growing number of (sustainability) requirements and information interfaces cause a great deal of effort, especially for SMEs:

In most cases, the systems are

  • Industry-specific,

  • provide different information or

  • cover different parts of the value chain.

In the workshop we want to

  • Awareness of the challenges of existing certification systems was raised,

  • the basic principles and limits of a common minimum standard for the industrial bioeconomy were developed,

  • the first steps for coordinated further work were defined.
